How eTopps Works   -   How CardTarget Works   -   How The Marketplace Works   -   Frequently Asked Questions

CardTarget is proud to be the only live trading market for eTopps cards. This document will give you the information you need to get started buying and selling on the CardTarget market today!

Orders
Just like the real stock market, when you buy and sell on the CardTarget Market you do so using buy and sell "limit" orders. This means that you are entering into a contract to buy or sell a certain item or number of items at a certain price. When another user's order is matched with your order at the same price, the orders are matched and the trade is executed by CardTarget in an automated fashion.

eTopps Transfers
eTopps cards are kept in your eTopps portfolio on the etopps.com website. In order to execute transactions, CardTarget must move cards from the seller's portfolio to the buyer's portfolio. Cards are transferred automatically via a special eTopps/CardTarget transfer script in an automated fashion. This can be a confusing concept for new users, so if you have questions about how the tradepost transfers work, please read this summary.

eTopps Buying
Buying eTopps cards for great prices has never been easier. No more bidding and hoping, no more begging for deals, just buy it when the price is right! Users looking to participate as buyers in the CardTarget market must register their eTopps portfolio ID and password with CardTarget on our secure server. Buy orders can be placed at specific prices and are good from 1 day to 30 days and can easily be modified to be cancelled at any point prior to execution.

eTopps Selling
Selling your eTopps cards immediately at market value with low fees is now possible! Users looking to participate as eTopps sellers in the CardTarget Market must register their eTopps username and password with CardTarget through our secure server. Selling fees start at 6% of the sales price and go as low as 3.5% of the sale price if you are a member of our advanced tier system. Sellers are also responsible for paying a transfer fee which starts at $.10 and goes as low as FREE if you are a member of our advanced services. The maximum number of cards you may have up for sale at one time is dependent upon the number of cards available in your portfolio. Card availability is accessed before each order is entered into the system and upon the matching of each order. Sellers have the ability to name the quantity of a certain card that must be purchased. For example, you may place an order to sell 6 of a certain card, but a buyer must purchase at least 3 of them (Minimum Quantity). This limits the transfer fees paid by the seller, but also resticts the pool of potential buyers.

Buy Now
Buyers looking to purchase a card or a lot of cards immediately may check the "Buy Now" section to see what quantity is available and what the prices are. While it may appear as if you are purchasing a 10 card lot with a single payment, they may indeed be 10 distinct transactions with 10 different sellers. This type of purchase would have been difficult in the past, but now it is simple and fully transparent to the purchaser due to the automated nature of the CardTarget Market.

Sell Now
Sellers looking to move a quantity of cards in a single transaction may like to use the "Sell Now" feature. The seller will see the prices that they would be able to obtain for a number of different quantities of cards in a simple interface.

Custom Orders If the "buy now" or "sell now" prices are not to your satisfaction at the time you are interesteing in buying or selling a card you may place a custom buy or sell order. To do this, click on "Create Custom Buy/Sell Order" in the market window. This will allow you to enter your best price and allow other users to accept it using the "buy now" or "sell now" feature.

Account Funding
In order to facilitate a real-time market, buyers in the CardTarget Market are encouraged to pre-fund their accounts so that funds are available for purchase as soon as an order is matched. Accounts may be funded via PayPal balance transfers or credit card payments. Credit card payments are subject to a $20 minimum and may be subject to withdrawal penalties if not used in full in the CardTarget Market.

Order Matching
The CardTarget Market order matching system always attempts to get the best price available. New orders are always matched against orders already in the "book". The match price is always the price of the order that was placed first.

For example, if you enter a buy order with a price of $16 and there is a sell order in the book at $15 it will match at $15 since that is the best price available for purchase. If you enter a sell order at $10 and there is a buy order in the book at $20 it will match at $20 because that is the best price available.

Account Security
CardTarget employs a fully secure server to facilitate all market transactions. eBay and eTopps passwords are treated with utmost security and are stored encrypted at all times. Should you at any time feel that your eBay or eTopps accounts may have been compromised you are asked to contact eBay security, eTopps customer service, and the CardTarget staff at staff@cardtarget.com.

Reporting
As CardTarget is a transparent marketplace, we report all sales in a public fashion. To do this we must list the buyer's and seller's username. We allow users to use their eBay username to identify themselves if they choose. If the user has not entered an eBay ID we use the eTopps portfolio name for reporting purposes.

Terms and Conditions
All users of the CardTarget Market are subject to the CardTarget Market User Agreement which must be agreed to before use of the CardTarget Market.
