CJ's Thumbs Up Foundation 2011 - Link to Foundation Homepage Starting December 20th, 2011, CardTarget will begin accepting donations for the "CJ's Thumbs Up Foundation" (CJSTUF) in the form of "unwanted" in portfolio eTopps cards. On Jan 1st, 2012 these cards will all be placed up for sale on CardTarget in a special listing and all proceeds will be donated to the "CJ's Thumbs Up" Foundation. Before we get into the details of how this works, I want to explain why we have chosen this charity. In past years we have had donations for the Red Cross and for the Special Olympics. Last year we chose CJSTUF.org as our charity becuase we have a very personal connection to a great cause. Two of Mike's friends had a four year little girl name Charlotte who was diagnosed with a brain tumor in January of 2009. They found out, after a year's worth of chemotherapy and other medical help, that the medical intervention had not prevented the growth of the tumor. Charlotte passed away on January 7th, 2010 - just days after we closed the 2009 holiday season donations for her charity. This year my friends Roger and Rachel have received an amazing amount of support from their friends and family and have set up CJSTUF to "Pay It Forward". They have established "CJ's Thumbs Up Foundation" as a way to provide help to familes of children diagnosed with chronic, life-threatening illnesses similar to Charlotte's. The foundation has grown significantly since Charlotte's passing and is now a fully established 501(c)3 tax-exempt charity with the following mission: "To provide financial assistance to families of children with chronic and life threatening illnesses through individual giving and partnerships with organizations that share similar goals." Maybe it would cost you more to sell than they are worth... maybe you're just too lazy to put them up for auction... whatever the reason, we're giving you a great way to get rid of them! In order to donate a card, go to the card details page for that card and click the "Donate to CJSTUF" link. You'll be asked which portfolio you want to donate from and the quantity and that's it!
